CALEA Accreditation

ECDC has started the process to become CALEA ® accredited. The police agencies dispatched by ECDC are currently accredited themselves.

A team of CALEA ® Assessors will conduct a virtual assessment beginning July 25, 2022 through July 26, 2022, to examine all aspects of the ECDC's directives and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Administered by CALEA ®, the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in seven topic areas: Organization, Direction and Authority, Human Resources, Recruitment and Selection, Training Operations and Critical Incidents, Special Operations and Homeland Security, in order to receive accredited status.

As part of the virtual assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. The public and agency employees may call (314) 655-3519 on Monday, July 25, 2022 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Telephone comments during the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the ability of ECDC to comply with CALEA standards. The Accreditation is valid for four years, during which time ECDC must submit annual reports and annual reviews attesting continued compliance with the 207 Communication Standards under which it is currently seeking accreditation.
