911 Saves Act

the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International welcomed the introduction of the 911 Supporting Accurate Views of Emergency Services (SAVES) Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.  The 911 SAVES Act would recognize 9‑1‑1 professionals (known as public safety telecommunicators) for the lifesaving work they perform every day.  The Act would require the federal government to reclassify public safety telecommunicators as Protective Service Occupations in the federal Standard Occupational Classification (SOC).

For those that may not know, APCO International is the world’s oldest and largest organization of public safety communications professionals.  APCO has been working for several years to correct the federal classification of 911 professionals by reclassifying them as Protective Service Occupations as opposed to administrative/clerical occupations.

APCO has generated an easy way for you to contact your Sentors and Representative. This campaign will also generate different messages depending on whether the elected official is already a sponsor of the legislation.

Please, ask your Senators and Representative to support the 9-1-1 SAVES Act today!  Please click on the link buttons to the right and easily fill your form out online.
